Ford Announces 2015 Conservation and Environmental Grants Recipient in Laos
• Ford selects Lao National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality as the 2015 Ford Conservation and Environmental Grants recipient
• The organization will use a US$20,000 grant to provide scholarships for eight young people to further their education
• Grants programme demonstrates Ford’s deep commitment to contributing to communities in Laos, as part of its broader conservation and CSR programmes across Asia Pacific
VIENTIANE, Laos, Jan. 14th, 2016 – Ford Motor Company, together with its local partner, Lao Ford City, today awarded a US$20,000 grant to the Lao National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality (LANITH). As the latest recipient of the annual Ford Conservation and Environmental Grants in Laos, LANITH will use the funds to serve both education and community needs, helping eight young people attain a high quality tourism education through the school’s scholarship program.
Tourism has a high potential to create employment opportunities in Laos, and research has shown the income generated by the industry can help to raise living standards and increase family income levels by up to 40 percent. LANITH, founded in 2008, has a Diploma program that responds to the needs of the tourism industry in Laos, with the aim of giving locals the opportunity to develop the skills and experience needed to access employment opportunities within the industry.

The two announcements build on Ford and Lao Ford City’s shared commitment to positive community contributions, which also recently involved awarding the Sustainable Environmental & Social Development Association a grant to improve road safety in Laos.
Conservation and Environmental Grants Programme
Since launching the global grants programme in 1983, Ford has awarded grants to hundreds of environmental projects in 60 countries, spanning Asia Pacific, the Caribbean, Central America, the Middle East and Puerto Rico.
